Therapeutic Approach and Offerings

Through integration of the latest evidence-based approaches (dialectical-behavioral, cognitive-behavioral, behavioral activation, and prolonged exposure), Dr. Creedon approaches therapy from a flexible, collaborative, and compassionate orientation. When clients are experiencing difficulty, they often find it difficult to "unstick" themselves in order to move toward their goals and values.  They can find themselves in a slump or feeling not themselves for a variety of different reasons.  Yet, when individuals are in a therapy in which they are active participants in setting and attaining their own goals and in asking for what they need, they begin to feel empowered.  This allows individuals to apply their therapeutic learning to real-world situations, and feel a sense of mastery and pride. By feeling validated and understood by their therapist, individuals can cultivate an increased sense of self-compassion, autonomy, trust, and even humor in the face of social and emotional challenges they face making them more likely to experience a reduction in their suffering and to begin to thrive once more. Thus, Dr. Creedon aims to guide clients toward their own values and dreams, helping them to realize their potential, reduce the grip the "stuck" places have on them, strengthen the positive aspects of themselves, and facilitate increased well-being and a sense of flourishing.
