A Support Group to Help Parents Cope with Adversity

 

Description

Weekly 6 Session Group focusing on:

  • The impact of past personal adversity on parenting behaviors
  • The rules of the road for responding when something traumatic happens to your child
  • Understanding the impact of one child’s trauma on other family members
  • How to cope when one child’s behavior becomes traumatic to other member’s of the family
  • How to care for yourself when your family is affected by trauma

Participants

Participants are parents who themselves have undergone a trauma or experienced adversity earlier in their lives that may be impacting their parenting preparedness. The group is also designed to help parents cope more effectively when their child experiences some form of trauma. Lastly, the group will provide guidance and support to parents trying to cope with a child’s recurrent high risk or unsafe behaviors.

Participants need not be in individual treatment

Participants may attend individually or as a couple

Group meets on Tuesdays from 7:30-8:45pm at:

Group Fee Schedule

$540 - 6 Week Commitment - 1 Parent

$780 -6 Week Commitment - 1 Couple
